The Challenge of the Channel in Retail
Finance
13 June 2008, Amsterdam
Is Channel integration still one size fit
for all? Chairman – Conny Dorrestijn Channel
integration has been a dragon with eight
heads for many financial institutions over
the past decade. On excel sheets it looks
only too obvious, as we add cost in a new
channel, we need to optimise (read cut)
somewhere else. Integration can make this
happen. However “make” is the critical word
in this sentence. What tools and skills does
one need to execute upon this strategy? And
do all banks & insurers need all channels or
should they not be afraid to make choices.
If you choose to be a dominant national or
even global leader you might not have a
choice. However profitability and customer
satisfaction look also very sweet in the
niche and mid-size segment, not to mention
the cost of many integration projects –
successful or else.
